Report: Bengals WR John Ross sidelined with groin injury

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bengals will reportedly be without wide receiver John Ross for multiple weeks. Ross returned to action last week against Kansas City after missing the past two games with a groin injury.

It appears that he aggravated said injury and is now expected to be out multiple weeks.

This is yet another blow in a career that has to be seen as a bust thus far. Selected No. 9 overall back in 2017, Ross has appeared in just eight games and recorded seven receptions thus far.

Cincinnati selected Ross to be that speed option opposite A.J. Green. Obviously, it has not panned out. And this could have wide-ranging ramifications for struggling quarterback Andy Dalton.

In last week’s blowout loss to the Chiefs, Dalton threw for just 31 yards when tossing the rock to players not named A.J. Green. That’s just not going to get it done. With Ross’ injury, the Bengals depth at wide receiver will be tested.
