Here in the states, billionaire Shahid Khan is best known for being the owner of the upstart Jacksonville Jaguars. But overseas, he’s a larger-than-life figure and the owner of the Fulham Football Club of the Premier League in London.

Khan is also now potentially in trouble with the law overseas. According to The Telegraph, he’s currently being investigated by the Metropolitan Police in London for allegations of threatening behavior.

“The Fulham owner, whose £600 million bid is being considered by the FA Council on Thursday, is embroiled in damaging claims from a former member of his coaching staff alleging “systemic corruption” relating to his bid to buy the home of English football,” the paper reported.

Local police on Tuesday night confirmed that they are looking into allegations of “non-recent threatening behavior” against Khan at Fulham’s Motspur Park training ground.

The allegations come from former director of football, Craig Kline, who claims the club engaged in racism. He doubled down on Twitter in the lead up to a vote that would enable Khan to buy ownership of the famed Wembley Stadium.

Khan, who has been in talks to buy the stadium since April, has denied the allegations through spokesman Jim Woodcock.

“This is nothing more than the same ongoing nonsense and bogus claims made by a former employee who left the club in 2017,” Woodcock said. “Nothing here merits a further response.”

This is a story that will continue to make headlines both in the states and overseas until the final vote on Wembley’s sale is conducted later in the week.

Until then, it’s a situation that now involves a high-profile figure within North America’s largest pro sports league.
