Red Sox lose championship banner, and it’s now being held for ransom

There will be a point within the next couple days that the Boston Red Sox are going to clinch the American League East championship. It’s been a long time coming for MLB’s best team.

While a division title isn’t the end of Boston’s aspirations this season, one thing might be missing when they celebrate as soon as Wednesday night. According to Travis Anderson of the Boston Globe, the Red Sox legitimately lost the banner that would signify said division title.

The championship banner fell off a vendor’s truck along a Massachusetts highway recently. It was retrieved by Red Sox fan Louie Iacuzzi and his friends, who are holding it for ransom.

“We want to return it, we’re trying to do the right thing, but I’m not just going to hand it to them, know what I mean?” Iacuzzi said.

Their demands? Financial compensation or tickets to a Red Sox game. Though, the organization should not fret, Ace Ventura could soon be hot on the trail of these highway bandits.

The good news? This entire drama came to a conclusion with the banner being returned to Fenway and the men receiving nothing in return.

Boston can clinch the division with a win over the Yankees on the road Wednesday night.
