Football is a violent game. However, Georgia State coach Shawn Elliott found out the hard way that fist-bump celebrations can be, too.
According to ESPN reporter Olivia Harlan Decker, the second-year coach said he needs surgery to repair a broken right bicep caused by an “aggressive fist bump” during a loss to North Carolina State.

In this case, Elliott flipped the idiom and added injury to insult. Georgia State scored the first touchdown of the game, but NC State walloped his team 41-7.
The Panthers enter the Week 2 clash with Memphis at 1-1, and Elliott should be listed on the injury report as probable. Hopefully, though, the 45-year-old coach will keep his left bicep under control when Georgia State scores.
