Former first-rounder Breshad Perriman works out for Patriots

The New England Patriots are in desperate need of an upgraded receiving corps, so they brought in Breshad Perriman for a workout.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news, which marks Perriman’s second workout with a team since being cut prior to the 2018 season.

By no means is Perriman a definite solution to New England’s woes, considering he failed to make the Baltimore Ravens roster out of camp.

A first-round selection in 2015, he mustered only 43 catches for 576 yards and three touchdowns with Baltimore. Injuries limited Perriman throughout his Ravens tenure.

Wisely, though, the Patriots figured they’d see if the UCF product would be worth a short-team deal. With wideout Julian Edelman suspended and Josh Gordon recovering from injury, Rob Gronkowski is the only target truly able to get open.

That’s not going to cut it. And at 1-2 entering a showdown against the Miami Dolphins the Patriots should exhaust every avenue for help.
