Eagles’ Carson Wentz cleared, will start Week 3

The Philadelphia Eagles may be coming off a surprising loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they will have their franchise quarterback back on the field next week against the Indianapolis Colts.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson announced on Monday that Wentz has been cleared for contact and will start Sunday’s game.

It had been reported during the weekend that Wentz could be cleared for contact at some point this week. With it happening on Monday, the Eagles are confident their young quarterback is 100 percent healthy.

Wentz missed the final three games of last season after suffering a torn ACL against the Los Angeles Rams. He has not taken part in a full practice since.

In Wentz’s stead, reigning Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles put up 451 yards with one touchdown and one pick en route to leading Philadelphia to a 1-1 record in the team’s first two games this season. He’ll now be relegated back to bench duties.
