Chris Davis’ latest cold streak will blow your mind

MLB star Chris Davis

A season that seemingly couldn’t get any worse for Baltimore Orioles first baseman has, in fact, gotten much worse.

The 32-year-old slugger, who enters Friday with a .171/.246/.302 slash line with a .548 OPS and 185 strikeouts in 461 at-bats, has been on an insane cold stretch at the plate as of late.

In his last nine games, Davis has one hit in 30 at-bats. The .033 batting average is ugly enough, but his inept performance at the plate is made even worse with 15 strikeouts over that span.

Keep in mind, Davis is the sixth-highest paid first baseman in MLB in average salary. Furthermore, he is owed just under $22 million per seasons in each of the next four seasons.

This has been an awful season for the Orioles. Davis’ performance at the plate, paired with his salary, made it even worse. Unfortunately, Baltimore is likely stuck with him for years to come.
