Bills teammate rips Vontae Davis for ‘disrespectful’ decision to retire at halftime

Vontae Davis has reportedly played his final game for the Buffalo Bills and in the NFL. The veteran cornerback apparently retired mid-game on Sunday.

Following Buffalo’s 31-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said that, after a rough first half, Davis called it a career before the second half.

That’s just not something you see every day.

Retiring after a game for reasons other than an injury would be questionable enough. But no matter how bad things are, retiring in the middle of a game is awfully hard to defend.

For Davis’ sake, we have to hope that he doesn’t change his mind. Because if Alexander’s take represents the rest of the Bills, it doesn’t seem like Davis would be terribly welcome back in Buffalo’s locker room.
