Stephen Curry wants to finish his career with the Warriors

Even as he’s winning NBA titles and MVP awards with the Golden State Warriors, there’s always been this nagging suspicion that Stephen Curry might want to finish his career with his hometown Charlotte Hornets — the same organization that put his father on the map.

Having signed a max contract extension with Golden State last summer, any expectation that he might move on from the two-time defending NBA champs might be a bit down the road.

But if we were to ask Curry, he’s not even seeing this as a possibility.

“I love the Bay Area, man. The only reason I go home now is if my sister’s getting married or to go play the Hornets for that one game, so I haven’t really been back much. I haven’t put my mind there,’ Curry said on The Bill Simmons Podcast.

This really shouldn’t be considered too much of a surprise. Curry is the Warriors. Even more so than two-time reigning NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant, he’s the face of the franchise. Northern California is his home. He’s done a lot of good for that community.

It’s in this that Curry wants to finish his career as a member of the Warriors.

“For sure I do,” Curry said when asked about playing his entire career with the Warriors. “This is home. This is where I want to be, for obvious reasons.”

With his team set to move into a waterfront arena in San Francisco in time for the 2019-20 campaign, Curry’s presence in the Bay Area will only be taken to a whole new level should his Warriors continue to dominate on the basketball court.

There’s really no reason for the future Hall of Famer to think about leaving the Warriors. He made that more than clear here.
