Mike Trout ‘day-to-day’ after cortisone injection

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout has missed the last four games with a right wrist injury. On Monday, the club released a statement, noting that Trout received a cortisone injection and is day-to-day.

Trout is having another fantastic season. He’s hitting .309/.459/.624 with 30 home runs, 21 steals, and is arguably the leading candidate for the American League MVP.

Given Trout’s overwhelming value, expect Los Angeles to be cautious with him. The Angels head into play on Monday well out of the race in both the the American League West and wild card. As such, there’s no pressing need to rush an injured Trout back onto the field.

The Halos open a four-game set against the Detroit Tigers on Monday.
