Utah Jazz superstar guard Donovan Mitchell is a man of the people. During his rookie season with the team, the all-everything youngster helped a fan land that important date.
Now, he’s doing something even more worthwhile. After learning that a young Jazz fan named Maya is stricken with cancer, Mitchell took time out of his offseason to hang out with her while providing the brave young soul with a pair of shoes.
It’s enough to melt your heart.

Per a GoFundMe account set up in her name, the 10-year-old Kanab native was diagnosed with a rare form of malignant yolk sac germ cell cancer.
The likes of LeBron James and Kevin Durant doing otherworldly things in hopes of bettering their communities get most of the attention. But it’s these small acts of kindness and altruism that can help impact change and hope with the platform of a professional athlete being utilized as a medium.
It’s a job well done by Mr. Mitchell. And to Maya, we say stay strong and beat the crap out of this disease.
