Hue Jackson: Dez Bryant still in play despite Josh Gordon return

The Cleveland Browns welcomed back receiver Josh Gordon on Saturday, but head coach Hue Jackson made it clear that development won’t impact Dez Bryant.

“No, I think one has nothing to do with the other in my opinion,” Jackson said, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “Again, things will unfold as they will. The most important thing we know is that Josh is here, and again, we’ve had a good conversation with Dez and until he’s a Cleveland Brown, I can only worry about the guys that are on this football team.”

Bryant concluded his visit with the Cleveland brass on Friday without a deal, but the two sides are continuing to discuss a potential contract to bring him on board.

Gordon cannot yet practice with the Browns until he’s fully cleared from the active/non-football injury list. Until then, Cleveland remains short-handed at the receiver position, which in the long run might actually benefit some of the young guys on the roster such as Antonio Callaway, who had a big showing in the first preseason game.
