Former UFC fighter records robbery gone wrong inside his home

Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

When Dean Lister returned to his San Diego home Saturday evening, the last thing the former UFC fighter expected to see was a shirtless man in his kitchen.

Unfortunately for Lister, that’s what happened in what was proven to be a robbery.

In a video Lister has since posted to social media, he’s seen asking the man exactly what he was doing in Lister’s house. After a brief conversation in which the man explained that he thought it was a church, he ended up pulling out a hammer in a threatening manner.

That’s when Lister pulled out his own weapon, a gun. He would ultimately force the unidentified man from the house.

“Off camera, I drew a sidearm and he stopped advancing toward me,” Lister said, via TMZ Sports. “I let him escape with his life through a window. Cops said I was legally good if I killed him.”

Lister noted that the man stole a bunch of cash from his home and is hoping the video helps authorities identify him.

All said, the video itself is absolutely shocking. What would you do if you walked into hour home and a stranger was there half naked? Would you let him leave unharmed? For Lister, the story concludes with him also being safe. That’s a great thing.

A former UFC fighter, Lister finished his career with a 13-7 record. We can now add another win to his belt.
