Ezekiel Elliott’s father, Stacy, becomes face of misguided Urban Meyer rally

A group of Ohio State fans gathered at Ohio Stadium Monday evening to hold a rally in support of head football coach Urban Meyer. And among them was Ezekiel Elliott’s father Stacy Elliott, who became the face of the rally.

Elliott called Meyer “a man of integrity” and said, “I love Urban Meyer.”

Of course, Elliott was a star at Ohio State from 2013-15.

Meyer is currently away from the football program on paid administrative leave as the university investigates what role he potentially played in keeping Zach Smith on the staff following allegations that he abused his wife, Courtney Smith.

Many Ohio State fans are very much against all this, and as you’ll see here in a moment many of them ironically blame ESPN, which fired Brett McMurphy, who is the person who broke this story wide open last week.

For what it’s worth, Meyer recently admitted that he did not divulge the truth about knowing Smith’s history of arrests at Big Ten Media Days. He did, however, make it clear in an open letter that he believes he did nothing improper. Though, it’s worth pointing out that Courtney Smith has said nobody from Ohio State ever approached her regarding the 2015 incidents.

The investigation into all this is expected to wrap up in roughly two weeks time.
