Ex-Eagles TE would rather retire than play for Cowboys

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

After spending 11 seasons in the NFL, all with the Philadelphia Eagles, tight end Brent Celek is mulling over his options.

The veteran was released by Philly this offseason but is clearly still a fan favorite even after the fact.

Celek said in an appearance with 97.5 The Fanatic (h/t NBC Sports Philadelphia) that he is leaning toward retirement because putting another uniform just feels wrong.

One option he absolutely, positively won’t consider, however, is playing for one of his longtime rivals. When asked if he’d play for the Dallas Cowboys, Celek gave a response that’s sure to further endear him to his hometown fans.

“Hell no. Do you think I would play for the Cowboys? Philly is my home,” Celek said.. “If they offered me $10 million, I still wouldn’t go.”

Legendary.

The Eagles and Cowboys have one of the fiercest rivalries in football, and Celek’s response here magnifies that all the more.

Over the course of his 11-year career in Philly, Celek racked up 398 catches for 4,998 yards and 31 touchdowns.
