Doug Baldwin running again, expected to be ready for Week 1

Seattle Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin is working his way back from a knee injury that’s kept him out of commission throughout training camp.

Pete Carroll told reporters on Friday that Baldwin has resumed running and that he expects him to be ready for the team’s first regular season game.

“He’s back to going here and he’s conditioning to get back in,” Carroll said, per ESPN’s Brady Henderson. “So next week will be really important to see how far along he comes. Really the fourth week (of preseason) would be the first chance we really get to work him really hard and press him, and we’ll see how that goes for that week and then heading into the opener. We think he’s going to be fine.”

The Seahawks open the season on Sunday, September 9 on the road in Denver this year.

Baldwin is the team’s top receiver, by a long shot. Last year he led the team with 75 receptions for 991 yards and was second only behind Jimmy Graham, who’s now in Green Bay, with eight touchdowns.

Needless to say, the Seahawks will be must better off with Baldwin in the lineup than with him still sidelined with this knee injury.
