Dodgers place All-Star Ross Stripling on DL for odd reason

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without All-Star pitcher Ross Stripling for at least the next 10 days after the team placed him on the disabled list Wednesday with back inflammation.

Losing the All-Star in the middle of a playoff race isn’t necessarily a good thing. Though, it’s what led to Stripling’s injury that should be of concern.

Ritz-Carlton injured the pitcher? That takes paying out of your back pocket to a completely different level. It’s something that the posh hotel chain might want to check in on. Soft beds leading to back injuries. Who would’ve thought? Maybe, next time the Dodgers should stay at a Howard Johnson.

Having split time between the bullpen and starting rotation this season, Stripling is pitching to a 2.68 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 28 appearances (17 starts) this season.

It’s not yet known whether he’ll return once eligible to come off the disabled list late next week.
