WATCH: Cam Newton takes scary tumble diving head first, landing awkwardly

Cam Newton must have forgotten it is preseason and the games don’t matter, because he took an ill-advised flying leap and landed on his head Friday night.

The Carolina Panthers quarterback landed quite awkwardly on the side of his head and had to be tended to by trainers on the sideline afterwards.

Here’s a look at the play in which Newton got banged up.

At the least, Newton had to be evaluated for a concussion after this play.

Newton has to know better than to risk injury like this. Even during the regular season, that play was questionable, at best. Thankfully he was able to return, but this was way too dangerous a play for him to make.
