Fortunately, DeShields walked off under his own power, receiving a well-deserved ovation from the fans in Boston.

It was initially suspected that DeShields was being evaluated for a concussion. But the most recent report noted that he was being examined for a neck or shoulder injury.
No definitive update on DeShields. He is being evaluated at the moment for neck/shoulder type injury.

Certainly, a concussion remains a possibility, as do injuries to his neck or shoulder.
This will certainly be a situation to continue to track as more information becomes available.
