A legend in many ways during his time with the San Francisco 49ers, Dwight Clark is known most for “The Catch” he made during the 1981 NFC Championshp Game against the Dallas Cowboys. It remains one of the most iconic moments in National Football League history.
Now on to a better place following his premature passing at the age of 61 after a battle with ALS, Clark’s final resting place in Montana will include a momento from that historical play.

As former 49ers coach and current NFL Media personality Steve Mariucci notes, Clark’s ashes sit right by the goalpost that stood at the south end of Candlestick Park during the former receiver’s franchise-altering catch.
Clark had moved to the compound of former 49ers owner Edward J. DeBartolo in Montana when he was initially diagnosed with ALS until his death last month. That’s where his headstone stands.
