Carmelo Anthony will not play a single game in an Atlanta Hawks uniform. Sure the team traded for the 10-time All-Star, but that was more of a salary dump than anything else.
Having been able to move Dennis Schroder’s contract in the deal, Atlanta will now certainly work with Melo on a buyout.
In no way does this mean Atlanta made a good move here. Coming off a disastrous 24-win season, Schroder was by far the Hawks’ best player. They’ve now moved him in nothing more than a salary dump as the rebuild in Atlanta hits its next step.
Needless to say, those on Twitter were not too kind to this trade from a Hawks perspective.

Carmelo Anthony is getting every last penny owed to him by the Atlanta Hawks.
Add that to the Hall of Fame resume.

Not to get lost in the 'Melo trade is the fact that Atlanta just gave away a 20-point, six-assist point guard in Schroder. Hawks clearly moving in a different direction, and GM Travis Schlenk was not a Schroder fan.

Carmelo just fleeced the Thunder out of $26,243,760, ruined their season, is getting paid $27,928,140 by the Hawks to literally not play, and then he's gonna join the Rockets, get paid even more, and he's going to ruin their season.
Meanwhile he's living his best life. pic.twitter.com/XFvIdC3SiR

Can Melo just play one game for the Hawks in honor of Rasheed Wallace?
