Jacob Eason

Kirby Smart will enjoy a high-caliber quarterback room in 2018, but one reporter at SEC Media Days apparently decided to hibernate this offseason.

Several press members shared a question to Smart about Jake Fromm, Justin Fields and Jacob Eason.

The only problem? Eason transferred to Washington this spring.

The idea behind the question itself isn’t wrong. Jake Fromm returns to Georgia after leading the program to an SEC championship in 2017. Additionally, the Bulldogs added 5-star prospect Justin Fields in the 2018 class.

But, quite simply, it’s madness to not know about Eason.

Due to a knee injury in the season opener, he missed several games. Fromm stepped in and kept winning, so he retained the job through UGA’s appearance in the national championship as Eason watched from the sideline.

At that point, Eason decided he should seek a more favorable opportunity to play. He was one of the highest-profile transfers of the summer along with former Ole Miss, now-Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson.

Fortunately, Smart responded kindly to the question. But next time, fellow media member, be more prepared.
