Report: Wizards interested in Jeff Green

Jeff Green could be headed to another basketball home. After one season on the Cleveland Cavaliers, he’s having conversations with the Washington Wizards.

TNT’s David Aldridge reported the news, saying Green would be asked to help a reserve unit that lost Mike Scott.

Washington would be Green’s sixth team since 2014-15, when a trade sent him from the Boston Celtics to the Memphis Grizzlies. He’s also played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic and Cavs during that span.

In 2017-18, the forward offered 10.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game during the regular season. His 47.4 field-goal percentage was a career-high mark.

However, his production trailed off during the playoffs. Green’s shooting clip dropped to 40.8, and he only averaged 7.7 points.

Washington would likely ask Green to play a small-ball 4 off the bench. The Wizards’ frontcourt depth has diminished following a trade sending Marcin Gortat to the Clippers.
