Report: Andrew Luck arm strength nearly at pre-injury level

The news surrounding Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck continues to be positive ahead of training camp.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Wednesday that luck has “really amped up the throwing, firing several balls in practice. While media has only seen him throw lightly, he has let loose. And, as far as arm strength, he’s close to where he was pre-injury.”

This report ties in nicely with what head coach Frank Reich said about his quarterback Wednesday morning (more on that here).

The health of Luck is one of the biggest storylines in the entire league this summer. When he’s healthy, the Colts are automatically contenders in the AFC. Obviously, when he’s out of commission the team is not nearly as competitive, so whether he plays this season will have wide-ranging ramifications throughout the conference.

The last season Luck played in which he was healthy was way back in 2014. That year, he passed for 4,761 yards with a league-leading 40 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, and he led the Colts to the AFC Championship Game.

Since then, it’s been all downhill as Luck suffered a shoulder injury early in 2015, and he’s been a shell of himself ever since. Thankfully for Luck, the Colts and their fans, it sure looks like he’s finally ready to get back to what he does best on a full-time basis. Fingers crossed.
