Report: 76ers haven’t offered Markelle Fultz for Kawhi Leonard trade

Markelle Fultz

The NBA world is eager to hear news on Kawhi Leonard’s future, but the Philadelphia 76ers’ desire to keep Markelle Fultz could be part of what’s keeping things quiet.

ESPN’s Zach Lowe reports Philadelphia has yet to offer Fultz in a potential trade, though it’s unclear whether the Spurs are demanding he be included.

Despite a disappointing rookie season, Fultz remains a highly valuable prospect. He apparently “had the yips” while dealing with a shoulder injury in 2017-18, never feeling fully confident in his physical health.

But if the Washington product returns to form — whether next season or even the year after — Fultz can be a stalwart in the backcourt for a franchise.

The 76ers remain atop the list of potential suitors for Kawhi, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and expected MVP candidate. For there to be more traction on a swap, though, Philly might have to make Fultz available.
