Media gives Missouri zero division votes, but one for SEC title

Filed in the “it’s completely illogical” department, SEC media predictions for the 2018 college football season have one massive flaw.

But the mistake has nothing to do with Alabama, Auburn or Georgia, the leading contenders in the conference. Rather, the Missouri Tigers received a vote to win the SEC championship despite not having one for the East division crown.

That is, uh, entirely illogical.

We can debate the merits of picking Missouri over Georgia — the winner of the media’s East vote, as expected — but preseason projections aren’t that important. They’ll never be completely correct anyway.

This type of error, though, is bizarre. Perhaps the media member simply made a mistake and accidentally chose Missouri in the SEC championship instead of the team in mind.

But it certainly feels careless. Do better next time.
