Free agent CB Bashaud Breeland visiting with Raiders, Chiefs

Redskins celebrate an interception against the Seahawks in NFL Week 9

Bashaud Breeland was one of the top cornerbacks on the market when free agency opened around the NFL this past March.

The former Washington Redskins star signed a three-year, $24 million deal with the Carolina Panthers before a failed physical voided the contract.

Now, months later and with training camps starting around the league, the 26-year-old Breeland has visits lined up with two AFC West rival teams.

According to this report, Breeland will visit with the Oakland Raiders before heading a bit further east to meet with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Both teams are certainly in need of upgrades at cornerback. Oakland finished in the bottom seven against the pass last season and yielded an absurd 101.8 quarterback rating. Should Breeland sign with the Raiders, he’ll team up with free agent acquisition Rashaan Melvin.

For their part, the Chiefs traded Marcus Peters to the Rams after acquiring his eventual successor, Kendall Fuller, in the Alex Smith trade with Washington.

A fourth-round pick of the Redskins back in 2014, Breeland recorded 47 tackles, 19 passes defended and an interception last season.
