DeMarcus Cousins: Draymond Green had worst free-agent pitch

DeMarcus Cousins heard from plenty of fellow NBA players while making his free-agency decision, and now-teammate Draymond Green had a bad pitch.

In an interview with ESPN’s Chris Haynes, Cousins said he spoke to Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry and Green during the process but laughed at his conversation with Green.

“Draymond probably had the worst pitch. He was like, ‘Cous, I’m pretty sure me and you are going to fight.’ I’m like, ‘Draymond, Come on. Whoa. Whoa.’ But Draymond, that’s my guy.”

Seriously, though, it’s likely Green and Cousins will have a couple of on-court spats next season. They’re both emotional players, which is evidenced by the facts you probably know are coming.

Green had the second-most technical fouls (15) in the league last season, and Cousins took 10 in 48 games. The arriving Warriors center has ranked no lower than fifth in the category for his career and paced the NBA four times.

That’s a lot of extra whistles.

But the outbursts should be worth it for both sides — even if they yell at each other once in a while. Cousins has a chance to rehabilitate his perception following an Achilles injury, and Green has another All-Star teammate to chase a fourth NBA title.
