Dallas Cowboys cornerback Marquez White has been charged with second degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from a road-rage incident which occurred back on October 20, 2017.
According to the Dallas Morning News, White was indicted June 7 on this charge and is currently free on $7,500 bond, according to jail records.
White has opened up about the incident, via The Dothan Eagle in Alabama, noting he encountered an “aggressive driver” who was tailing him, pulled up next to him and yelled threats and racial slurs.
He admits he “began to reach towards” his glove box and “that is when I flashed my weapon,” per The Dothan Eagle.
Though White was initially not arrested after police were called regarding this incident, he found out that an arrest warrant had been issued last month. Both he and his attorneys “believe strongly that this a personal attack on my image as well as the Star.”
The Cowboys drafted White out of Florida State in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent last season on the team’s practice squad and signed a futures contract with the franchise this past January.
