Steve Keim

On July 4, Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim was arrested for a DUI. He has since pleaded guilty to extreme DUI in court and will be suspended five weeks for violating team’s personal conduct policy.

In addition, Keim was fined $200,000 which will be donated to MADD in Arizona.

MADD stands for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. As for Keim, blood alcohol tests revealed that his alcohol content was .19 which is over double the standard .08 for a DUI.

He could face up to 30 days in jail for a punishment on top of the one he just received from the Cardinals’ organization.

Keim released this statement following Tuesday’s news.

“Once again, I apologize to everyone who has been negatively impacted by my actions and incredibly poor judgment, in particular the Cardinals, our fans and my family,” Keim said in a statement released by the team. “I fully deserve and accept the punishment that has been issued. My goal is to do everything I can to grow from this personally and help others learn from my inexcusable behavior.”
