Adam Gase: Frank Gore’s age is ‘irrelevant’

Frank Gore likely won’t be putting on the pads much longer, but Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase isn’t worried about the veteran’s age.

According to Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post, Gase said Gore being 35 years old is “irrelevant” because “he’s a different dude.”

“It’s been 10 years since we were together. I mean it seems like forever. The guy looks exactly the same.”

In 2008, Gase served as an offensive assistant for the San Francisco 49ers. Gore collected 1,409 yards from scrimmage that season, and he’s been remarkably consistent throughout his 13-year career.

Excluding his rookie campaign, Gore has averaged at least 60 yards per game and totaled no fewer than 850.

Now with Miami — his longtime home — the veteran is serving as the backup to Kenyan Drake. But the Dolphins clearly believe Gore is still capable of handling a significant share of carries.

After all, age is just a number.
