Yankees GM not the least bit interested in trading Gleyber Torres

Gleyber Torres

Any team looking to potentially pull a heist on the New York Yankees for stud youngster Gleyber Torres can now look elsewhere.

In talking about the possibility of trading one of New York’s top young players, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman didn’t mince words.

Cashman’s comments make sense for numerous reasons. First off, trading one of their best prospects  isn’t something that the Yankees have been willing to do in recent years. Secondly, should Torres morph into the star most expect him to be, Cashman wouldn’t hear the end of it in the Big Apple.

Previous reports suggested that the Mets were intrigued by the possibility of landing Torres as the centerpiece in a trade involving Jacob deGrom. Though, another recent report threw ice cold water on to that fire.

Torres, 21, entered the 2018 season as one of the Yankees’ top prospects in a farm system that’s loaded with elite young talent. All he’s done since joining the Major League club is post a .295 average with 13 homers and 33 RBI in 45 games.

Yeah, Cashman isn’t wrong in wanting to hold on to this potential franchise cornerstone.
