WATCH: Danny Farquhar throws out first pitch at White Sox game

Six weeks after he stepped off the mound and only moments later was rushed to the hospital after he suffered a brain hemorrhage from a ruptured aneurysm, Chicago White Sox reliever Danny Farquhar was back on the field on Friday.

Chicago invited Farquhar to throw out the first pitch before their game against the Milwaukee Brewers and the moment was an incredible sign for a person who was in critical condition in late April.

According to ABC.com, doctors told Farquhar that 40 percent of people who suffer a brain aneurysm die and 60 percent of survivors suffer severe disabilities after.

The 31-year-old, who spent 17 days in the hospital being evaluated and treated by doctors,  will be surrounded by family, friends and doctors when he returns to the very same stadium where it all took place.

“It’s going to be definitely weird,” Farquhar said, via The Today Show. “The good thing is I’m going to have my wife by my side and my kids are going to be out there and the whole doctor’s crew is going to be out there as well.”

While it is unlikely we see Farquhar pitch this season, the right-handed pitcher wants to return and be able to pitch again. He told ABC that doctors have cleared him to start throwing on Saturday.
