Tom Brady explains why he doesn’t like ‘GOAT’ label

Tom Brady is among the best NFL players over the age of 30

Tom Brady may well be the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Just don’t tell him that. In an interview with Oprah, the New England Patriots star made it clear that he doesn’t even like it when people talk that way.

“I don’t like it,” Brady said. “I don’t like when people say it. I don’t like it at all. I don’t feel that way. I’m not attached to that feeling. I don’t care whether people think it or not. I want to be the best I can be. I know, when I go out there, it’s not to compare myself to this guy or that guy.”

Brady elaborated, saying “I still feel like I’m doing it. I still feel like there’s more to be accomplished.”

He’s right, but only to an extent.

Brady is still going. Anyone who saw him play in 2017 — a season where he won his third NFL MVP — would know that he can still accomplish a lot more.

That said, none of this means that Brady isn’t the GOAT. Obviously, there’s some subjective value in that. But if someone thinks that Brady’s accomplishments already make him the greatest of all-time, then nothing that happens (or doesn’t happen) in the future will really change that.
