St. Louis jury orders Rams to pay Reggie Bush a cool $12.5 million

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Back when he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers in 2015, former NFL running back Reggie Bush suffered a season-ending knee injury when he was pushed out of bounds at the home of the then St. Louis Rams.

The play itself brought up serious questions about safety at the Edward Jones Dome.

Bush slipped on the concrete and suffered a serious knee injury. The former No. 2 overall pick would ultimately put up negative three rushing yards for the Buffalo Bills the following season. After that, he was forced from the game.

Bush, 33, ultimately sued the then St. Louis Rams claiming that the venue resulted in an injury that pretty much ended his career.

A jury in St. Louis agrees with this sentiment and has ordered the Los Angeles Rams to pay $12.5 million to Bush.

“I’m very happy with the verdict,” Bush told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “The people spoke and decided very fairly.”

The ruling ordered the Rams to pay Bush $4.95 million in compensatory damages and $7.5 million in punitive damages. It also pretty much supports Bush’s claim that the injury cost him multiples of millions in future earnings.

A No. 2 overall pick of the New Orleans Saints back in 2006, Bush tallied nearly 9,100 total yards and 58 touchdowns in 11 NFL seasons. He earned a $63.2 million during that span and can had another $12.5 million to the mix.

Not too shabby.
