Report: Randall Cobb wearing boot, could miss part of training camp

The Green Bay Packers are expecting a resurgent year from Randall Cobb, but the veteran wide receiver will be limited in preparation due to an ankle injury.

According to Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Cobb is wearing a walking boot on his right leg. The wideout declined to say whether he underwent surgery, and neither the cause nor timing are known.

On the bright side for Packers fans, there is currently no concern about his availability for the regular season. Cobb could miss the beginning of training camp, though.

And it’s a critical year for him. Since a career-best season in 2014, Cobb’s production has steadily dipped. During the last two campaigns, he’s managed a combined total of 126 catches for 1,263 yards and eight touchdowns.

Plus, the Packers moved on from Jordy Nelson this offseason, effectively choosing Cobb’s youth over Nelson’s connection with Aaron Rodgers.

While the addition of Jimmy Graham is beneficial, only a healthy Cobb can help solve the team’s issues on the outside.
