Report: Josh Jackson eligible for Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech quarterback Josh Jackson college football

Virginia Tech fans can breathe a sigh of relief; the academic issue clouding Josh Jackson’s future at the school has been resolved.

Andy Bitter of the Roanoke Times cited a source and said Jackson remains a full member of the team and there is no indication the quarterback is facing a suspension.

As a redshirt freshman in 2017, Jackson started all 13 games. He threw for 2,991 yards and 20 touchdowns to nine interceptions, adding 324 yards and six scores on the ground. Virginia Tech finished 9-4.

That level of experience in head coach Justin Fuente’s system simply couldn’t have been replaced. Hendon Hooker and Kansas transfer Ryan Willis have a combined zero pass attempts at the school.

Instead, the Hokies can rely on Jackson during a 2018 campaign in which they’re expected to challenge Miami for the ACC Coastal Division crown.
