Report: Jets rookie TE Chris Herndon charged with DUI after crashing his car

New York Jets rookie tight end Chris Herndon was involved in an accident early Saturday morning in New Jersey and was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to the Miami Herald.

Herndon was driving a Nissan Armada when he crashed into a Toyota FJ-40 Land Cruiser, totaling the vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, Albert Elliott, 76, suffered “a bruised and gashed arm,” per the report.

The 22-year-old also “demolished a railroad motorcar and the attached trailer,” according to a source close to Elliott.

According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the Jets, through a spokesperson, have no other comment than to say they are “aware of the situation.”

The Jets selected Herndon out of Miami in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
