Report: Cowboys make Zack Martin highest-paid guard in NFL history

Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick (72) and Cowboys guard Zack Martin (70) line up against the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field.

The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly locked up guard Zack Martin on a six-year deal that makes him the highest-paid guard in NFL history.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media noted that this contract “makes him the highest-paid guard with the largest guarantee at his position in NFL history,” per a source.

Martin had held out of voluntary OTAs seeking a new deal, and on Monday morning Stephen Jones said the team was “awfully close” to a new deal with him, noting, “I hope he’ll be at (minicamp) tomorrow,” per Jon Machota of SportsDay.

Since being selected 16th overall out of Notre Dame in the 2014 NFL Draft, Martin has been voted to four Pro Bowls and has made the NFL’s First-team All-Pro squad twice. He’s clearly one of the best in the business and a key contributor to Dallas’ offense.
