To make it big at the highest level of competition, professional athletes explore all sorts of ways to improve their craft. Carolina Panthers receiver Curtis Samuel, who’s about to enter a critical season after a mostly wasted rookie campaign, is doing just that.

According to Bill Voth, who covers the Panthers for the team’s official website, Samuel has purchased his own JUGS machine.

“The best investment is investing in yourself,” Samuel said of his new mechanical quarterback while walking off the field after the final day of minicamp. “So I had to do it for myself.”

Last season, Samuel only caught 15 passes for 115 yards, as injuries kept him from making much of an impact. As Voth highlighted in his article, the second-year receiver dropped two passes on 23 targets during his rookie season. So, the idea of working on his hands during his “down” time is definitely smart.

A supremely talented player at Ohio State, Samuel can still make a huge impact for his new team. We recently highlighted him as one of the second-year players around the league who’s poised to do big things in 2018.
