NFL to testify in congressional hearing on sports gambling

Now that the United States Supreme Court has struck down a nationwide ban on sports gambling, states are already taking to the multi-billion dollar industry.

It’s also not a secret that the NFL has been a steadfast opponent of opening up sports gambling around the United States. It breaks from the NBA and other entities in this regard.

Now, with the United States Congress is set to conduct hearings on the matter, the NFL itself is going to have a chair at the table.

It’s pretty obvious what the league’s stance will be on the situation. Whether the Congress gives much of a thought to its stance remains to be seen. Outside of the obvious rift between President Donald Trump and the NFL, the government itself has continued to be at odds with the league. That could factor into the results of said hearing.

Then again, we certainly expect the NBA, MLB and the NHL to also have a seat at the table. Under commissioner’s Adam Silver and Rob Manfred, the NBA and MLB, respectively, have been more open to legalized sports gambling than the NFL.
