Angels’ first-round pick Jordyn Adams quits UNC football program to pursue MLB career

Jordyn Adams, a two-sport star who was slated to potentially be an impact player for Larry Fedora and the North Carolina Tar Heels this year, has opted to pursue his MLB career instead.

Adams was selected by the Los Angeles Angels No. 17 overall on Monday night during the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft. On Tuesday, he announced his decision to forego his college football career in favor of a career in baseball.

It’s not all that surprising that Adams has opted to pursue baseball. His draft slot is worth $3,472,900, which is no small chunk of change. That said, No. 9 overall pick Kyler Murray of Oklahoma, has opted to play for the Sooners this year.

Now the outfielder will get on with the business he’s chosen to attend, and we look forward to seeing what the young man accomplishes in the years to come.
