Marcus Walker was arrested on three drug charges three weeks ago, leading to the safety being dismissed from the Kentucky football program.
Now we have some more details on the arrest, including the fact that he was found to be in possession of more than $95,000 in cash at the time of the bust.
“After a search, $70,312 was found in a bag by a closet and another $25,000 was found in a box in the top-floor bedroom of a townhome he shared,” according to SEC Country’s Joe Mussatto. “The more than $95,000 in cash belonged to Walker, according to a property and evidence record obtained by SEC Country.”
Walker ended up being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking marijuana and trafficking a controlled substance, which was cocaine.
Per Mussato, “police found 52.86 grams of suspected powder cocaine in a kitchen cabinet along with digital scales and packaging material. More than 5 pounds of marijuana was found throughout the house — in a water heater closet, a counter next to the stove, under a bed and in a backpack.”
Before the arrest, the former four-star safety was likely going to take on a much bigger role this coming football season and was thought to be a potential starter in 2019 following the departures of Mike Edwards and Darius West.
Walker’s next court date is June 20th.
