Dion Lewis says he and Derrick Henry can be ‘best duo in the league’

Former New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis is excited to be in Tennessee and has high hopes for himself and fellow running back, Derrick Henry.

“We both know we’re two good backs,” Lewis said, via Cameron Wolfe of ESPN. “We’re pushing each other every day. We feel like we can be two of the best running backs in the league. We feel like we can be the best duo in the league.”

That’s a tall task, but if both players can stay healthy this isn’t a crazy assessment.

Coming off a career year, Lewis signed a lucrative deal with the Titans in free agency. He’ll be the third-down, pass-catching specialist who’ll act as a chance-of-pace back to Henry’s bruising style.

Henry took over as the lead back late last year in Tennessee when former star DeMarco Murray suffered a knee injury. He and Lewis combined to gain 1,990 yards and 15 touchdowns from scrimmage last year, playing for their respective teams.

Obviously, this is new territory for both players, and they’ll have their work cut out to overtake the best duos in the league. That being said, there’s reason for optimism this year for Lewis and Henry, and for the Titans as a whole offensively.
