The Dallas Cowboys moved on from once-star wideout Dez Bryant. However, offseason developments have thinned the pass-catching group, and Bryant is still looking for a home. Given the circumstance, Deion Sanders believes a reunion makes sense.
During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan (h/t Dallas Morning News), Sanders said the Cowboys and Bryant should let bygones be bygones and reconcile.
“Let’s just apologize and say, ‘Dez, I’m sorry. I made a mistake. Come on back.’ You didn’t know Jason Witten was getting ready to do this. You didn’t know this knucklehead [Terrance Williams] was getting ready to do what he did.”
Witten decided to retire and join the Monday Night Football booth, and Williams was arrested after crashing a Lamborghini and leaving the scene. If the Cowboys move on from the latter, they’ll need to replace their three most productive pass-catchers from 2017.
So maybe it’s worth bringing back Bryant.
The Ravens pursued the veteran wideout, but he declined their offer — one that teams reportedly have not come close to matching. Bryant clearly isn’t in any rush to sign a low-dollar deal.
Although his days of being a dominant No. 1 target appear in the past, the Cowboys could do far worse than Bryant. And if the team releases Williams, Bryant would have real opportunity in Dallas.
