Broncos head coach calls out young WR over hamstring injury

A third-round pick of the Denver Broncos last year, wide receiver Carlos Henderson is spending this offseason fighting for a roster spot.

A recent arrest on marijuana charges doesn’t help matters here. However, if we were to ask head coach Vance Joseph, Henderson’s status with the team is more dependent on the former Louisiana Tech star recovering from a hamstring injury that’s plagued him throughout the offseason.

Given that Henderson’s absence from organized team activities has been due to injury, this is an interesting public stance for Joseph to take.

Then again, there’s going to be a ton of competition at wide receiver in Denver once training camp opens. Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas are guaranteed starting spots. Denver also added big-bodied SMU product Courtland Sutton in the second round of April’s draft

Even then, it’s not too often that a head coach threatens to move on from a higher-round pick after just one season. To do so in such a public manner obviously places a lot of pressure on Henderson moving forward.
