WATCH: Los Angeles TV station butchers Stanley Cup Playoff coverage

We fully understand that the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks were eliminated in the first round of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs. We also know that Southern California isn’t exactly hockey town.

But when you’re tasked with covering a sporting event, it might make sense to do some research. Maybe, learn how to pronounce the names of those starring in the playoffs.

Sadly for this one anchor on ABC 7 in Los Angeles, his homework must have been eaten by the dog. Here is the guy attempting to pronounce breakout Las Vegas Golden Knights star Jonathan Marchessault’s name. It’s pretty bad, ladies and germs.

That wasn’t even a full-throated attempt right there. If you watch the video, it’s apparent he was winging Marchessault’s name as he was detailing the goal. It’s not like Marchessault is some type of scrub, either. He’s scored eight goals and dished out nine assists thus far in the playoffs.

Later in the very same segment, the station ran a graphic that showed Las Vegas had defeated the Winnipeg Jets, 3-2. In an another unfortunate turn, that also proved to be wrong. The expansion Knights won Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals by the score of 4-2 to take a 2-1 series lead.

It’s rather impressive that there’s a Twitter account committed solely to pointing out errors from this Southern California news station.

We’re not sure to be sad or impressed. That probably depends on whether you’re a glass half full or glass half empty type of person. We’re going with impressed.
