Warriors announce Klay Thompson will play in Game 5, Andre Iguodala out

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

With the defending champion Golden State Warriors in desperate need of a win after losing Game 4 against the Houston Rockets, they’re going to have one of their All-Stars back on the court Thursday evening.

Unfortunately, another key cog will miss his second consecutive game.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr announced ahead of Game 5 in Houston that Klay Thompson will be able to do after suffering a strained knee on Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, Andre Iguodala will miss his second consecutive game with a leg contusion.

With the Western Conference Finals tied at two after Golden State blew a 12-point fourth quarter lead at home in Game 4, missing Iggy could have wide-ranging ramifications on the outcome of the series.

The former NBA Finals MVP is among the best wing defenders in the game. With him out of action in Game 4, Houston was able to create a ton of mismatches on offense.

For his part, Thompson was able to return after suffering his knee injury Tuesday evening. Though, he was nowhere near 100 percent. It will certainly be interesting to see how healthy he is when things tip off later Thursday night in Houston.
