Signed Sandy Koufax game-worn jersey from 1963 MVP season goes for $429K at auction

Someone paid an incredible amount of money to acquire a piece of MLB history. They dished out $429,000 in an auction for a game-worn jersey from the 1963 MVP season of Los Angeles Dodgers pitching legend Sandy Koufax, per TMZ Sports.

The bidding started at $150,000 online at Goldin Auctions, but that price swiftly moved as people pushed hard for this tremendous item. The jersey was autographed by Koufax himself, who wrote “1963 W.S. Champs.”

During the 1963 season, not only did Koufax haul in the National League MVP Trophy, but he also won World Series MVP helping the Dodgers take down the mighty New York Yankees that year. He was simply unhittable, piling up 25 wins with an ERA of 1.88 and 306 strikeouts.

Koufax’s jersey isn’t the only MLB item to go for big bucks of late. Some Babe Ruth memorabilia recently was sold for a jaw-dropping amount, too.
