Report: Top free agent Bashaud Breeland visiting Colts, then Cardinals

Bashaud Breeland

One of the top free agent cornerbacks this offseason, Bashaud Breeland had a very nice contract lined up to join the Carolina Panthers in March. Then a failed physical derailed that opportunity, as a foot injury Breeland suffered on his vacation ended up being a bigger deal than he thought.

The former Washington defensive back is now fully healed up, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, who reports Breeland is expected to pass all medical tests. He also reports that Breeland is visiting the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday and then the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday.

In this scribe’s humble opinion, the Colts shouldn’t let Breeland leave without a contract in hand. He’s not a lock-down defensive back in the mold of Jalen Ramsey, but this young man has been among the better coverage corners the league has to offer the past few years.

In four years as a member of the Washington organization, this former fourth-round pick out of Clemson piled up 58 starts. He also tallied 268 tackles, eight interceptions, 59 pass defenses, seven forced fumbles, two recoveries and one defensive touchdown.
